Adak, Alaska
Obviously, this page is a bit un-finished.  It may be several days before I get to it.

Great Sitkin Island, in the
Aleutian Chain.

Probably the same island,
from another side.

Neptune underway in
Sweeper Cove, Adak, Alaska.

Entering port, Adak.
This was only 2 weeks or so after leaving Guam and the tropics,
and most of us had colds!

Ruins left behind from World War II.
I later found out that Adak had a very definitive roll in halting the Japanese from entering North America by crossing the Aleutians.

Ruins from WW II.

Nothing Adak grew
over a foot high!

Adak waterfall, about 10 feet high.

Un-ridden surf, on the western shore of Adak.  July, and the water temp was about 38 degrees.

A nice virgin curl, about 3-4 feet.  However, only a "dry-suit" could protect you in this water!

A nice drink from one of the many brooks on the island.

The Ops guys, as we enter port at Adak, Alaska.

Sunset over San Francisco as we enter port after a cruise.

The epitome of a true "lifer"
(as opposed to a "career sailor"):
His tattoos tell the story.
